蝸牛エスカルゴ Escargot currently has two full-length compact discs available. The first album,
Slow Life, Slow Music has an electronic folk sound. The second album,
ブルースを歌えない was released in 2005 and has an altogether more mature sound while still retaining the unique charm of the first album. Both albums are available at Tower Records Japan. Plans were in the works for a new
Escargot album release and recording begins this Summer 2008.
Since
Atsushi Oshima has been an established musician in Japan for almost a decade, his music tastes and sensibilities have changed considerably. In 2008, his label suggested changing his band's name to reflect these new changes. In the Summer of 2008, Atsushi Oshima and his band changed their name from
蝸牛エスカルゴ Escargot to ス-パ-フィッシュル- ラ-ブ Superficial Love. This new name is meant to be ironic and to reflect a change in direction both musically and lyrically for Atsushi Oshima's band.
